What is Advice?
A suggestion or proposal is presented as advice when one person wants to help another communicate better. It could be requested of you or just handed to you. In either case, it always contributes to a particular topic of discussion.
The Bible is the source of all advice. Both the kings of Israel and other countries had counselors. These advisers would be consulted before they made important choices. They frequently followed their advise, but occasionally ignored it for personal reasons. A King's ability to rule successfully or unsuccessfully was largely based on the caliber of the advice they were given.
Advice is not legally binding and may only be a recommendation. You have the option of doing so or not. You should be prepared to deal with the effects of your decision to heed or disregard advise, though. The world's smartest man, King Solomon, said:
“Listen to counsel and receive instruction, that you may be wise in your latter days” Proverbs 19:20 (NKJV).
Insight is imparted through wise counsel. Similar to how stupidity is spread through incorrect advise. Your level of success depends on the counsel you are given and decide to heed. Choosing your counsel carefully will help you achieve your goals.
What is Good Advice?
Godly guidance is sound counsel. Knowing if the advise is godly is the only way to judge if it is good or bad. Godly counsel is accurate and does not divert you from God's plan for your life.
No advise has the best of intentions. Some suggestions might be false. And your incapacity to distinguish between good and bad may be the cause of your demise. Bad advise is a fundamental factor in the fall of man.
“He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed” – proverbs 13:20 (NKJV).
The Bible warns that those who associate with fools will perish.
Your Advice Sources
That are the individuals who can provide you advice? Depending on what you wish to achieve, a variety of people could give you advice. An attorney is required if you require legal counsel. You would require an accountant or tax specialist if you were dealing with a tax compliance issue. And you would need to visit a doctor if you were unwell.
In their many fields of expertise, each of these folks provides helpful advise on how to avoid danger. they're all experts in related subjects.
Knowing who to turn to when you need guidance is important since your advisors can aid you in a variety of situations. You cannot ask a buddy who is not a medical professional to treat your ailment. however much you may have faith in them. It transcends trust and extends to professional aptitude.
Your Approach Attitude to Advice
A negative attitude is similar to a flat tire. You won't get anywhere if you don't change it. Having a good attitude toward guidance is essential if you want to achieve, regardless of the caliber of the advice you receive.
The Bible mentions Rehoboam the king. He is descended from the most wise king on earth. monarch Solomon But he made a poor decision. It is well known that he detested any wise counsel given. A wise man was requested by the populace to address King Rehoboam. They demanded a reduction in the taxes his father, King Solomon, had imposed on them. King Solomon repressed them in order to support his luxurious and polygamous lifestyle.
“Then King Rehoboam consulted the elders who stood before his father Solomon while he still lived, and he said, “How do you advise me to answer these people?”
And they spoke to him saying, “If you will be a servant to these people today, and serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be your servants forever.”
But he rejected the advice which the elders had given to him and consulted the young men who had grown up with him, who stood before him” – 1 Kings 12:6-8 (NKJV).
King Rehoboam's kingdom was split when he disregarded their counsel. And in the north, he was only able to govern over two tribes. the Judah and Benjamin tribes. Due to his dislike of the counsel he was given, King Rehoboam lost his kingdom.
Good Advice is the Foundation for Success
The Bible is clear on what can make a nation succeed. “Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety” – Proverbs 11:14 (NKJV).
The king's grandpa, King David, was largely successful because he followed the advice of Ahithophel. Ahithophel was a man who had the gift of wisdom. “Now the advice of Ahithophel, which he gave in those days, was as if one had enquired at the oracle of God. So was all the advice of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom” – 2 Samuel 16:23 (NKJV).
God often communicates with His followers through individuals to whom He has given the gift of wisdom. They are there to provide advice on what to do and what not to do.
Any leadership can only be effective if it is advised by wise counsel. such as that of individuals like Ahithophel. God always makes sure you have a mentor in your life who will help you navigate all of life's events. But He doesn't compel you to take their counsel.
Social Attitude Toward Advice
If you decide to heed wise counsel, you will receive all kinds of abuse. People who don't fit in with society's expectations face serious consequences.
In reality, there aren't many people in our society that we can rely on. People will pressure you into making a choice and then turn their backs on you when things don't work out. You need to stop listening to counsel from the secular world that conflicts with God's will.
Not all of society is depraved or corrupt. It merely highlights humanity. Humanity also has flaws. We occasionally need to be reminded of that.
In conclusion, as much as you seek Godly advice, seek to know society’s view of you. Christ did the same. “When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?” – Matthew 16:13 (NKJV).
